Brussels Sprouts Sabzi

This is my first time using Brussels Sprout and I have tried a really simple recipe that I learned from a cousin.
Ingredients (Serves 2)
Brussels sprouts
Finely chopped garlic – 2-3 cloves
Oil – 1 tbsp
Water – 4-5 tbsps
Salt to taste
Wash the Brussels sprouts and cut the stems. Heat oil in a pan and add the garlic. Sauté until the garlic is cooked and add the Brussels sprouts. Add salt and water, mix well, cover and let it cook over medium heat until all the water is gone. If you feel that they are not tender enough, pour a little more water and continue cooking. Once they are done, roast for another 10 minutes and serve hot. Bon Appétit.
Note – The roasting can also be done in the oven and I shall update the details the next time I try it out. Please let us know if any of you try it in the oven.

  1. How does this taste.. I never ever tasted them before, although I saw them many times, but never got them home.
    Love Ash.

  2. Hi Ash, it tastes a bit like cabbage but it also has a distinct flavour of its own. If you do decide to try it, make it with a few and see if you like the taste :-).

  3. cut the brussel sprouts in half .... brush some olive oil and sprinkle some salt and fresh cracked pepper ... and bake it in a 350 preheated oven for 10 - 15 mins ....u ll love it ... it will keep them really sweet

  4. Hi Devisetty Manojna..thanks for the tip. Will try it out soon :-)

  5. Simple and sweet and tasty as a starter. I am wondering to make it a little more sabzi style with garama masala and onions, so that I can have it with Chapati? I want to try the oven style too. You should have a section called healthy munchies for Uthpatang bhook and put some of your stuff in that section?

  6. I am sure onions and garam masala will be a lovely addition. Let us know how it turns out. And, thank you for the suggestion for a new section, will look into it :-)
